2. We understand that you have just graduated from college and thus do not have as many years of work experience as other applicants. What skills can you bring to the table as a recent graduate?

I personally believe that most skills are understood to an extent where only some are transferable, however I believe that it's the level of confidence behind those actual skills. Just because you may know how to do something, doesn't mean you are doing it correctly.
I can honestly say that being in London has increased my self-awareness as well as my awareness of my surroundings. I've been able to adapt quickly, and I feel confident that I have. Therefore, I never found myself second-guessing or doubting myself. I have developed an understanding for topics that I had no relation to, which not helps me keep an open mind, but to question and challenging my own thought process. I feel that this is a very important aspect to the work place and working on a team. Developing an understanding for a separate thought process really gives you the ability to try to grasp concepts beyond you. I believe that this develops sensitivity and tolerance. Working in teams can also give you perspectives and insight into something you may have missed. This is a great opportunity to not only learn, but to teach as well. Listening is just as important as leading. Learning the dynamic of how others think can also help push yourself into a position of leadership. It really depends on the situation however being able to translate these important acquired skills abroad can really set you apart from the crowd. For some odd reason, I have a habit of getting really sick on whenever I'm traveling regardless of however healthy I try to be and the precautions I take beforehand.

And just as I thought I was being healthy the entire London trip, I'm now home sick in bed because I'm thinking that the jet lag has finally set in and I'm exhausted from being exhausted. Anyways, throughout the trip I managed to make sure I was eating well and that I was getting enough exercise (and I was with all that walking). I was lucky enough that pretty much everywhere in London had gluten free options, so I always happy and never had any issues. Aside from the fact that my friends and I were going out a lot, I made sure I was getting enough sleep and giving myself some "me time" to just relax and do homework or watch some Netflix while I tried to unwind. Even though I didn't do yoga, which usually keeps me calm.. I found that just resting gave me time to mentality decompress, which I definitely needed. I feel that if I wasn't so calm throughout the trip, I would've got sick or stressed out. Talking/facetiming with my friends and family back home always kept me in a positive mood as well! |
